ACTIVITY:
In pairs, prepare for a meeting between Booking Agent and Tour Manager. You will need to decide who needs to know what information from the other and what action you will need to take to ensure that the artist's tour can go well.
You need to submit your research copy and paste it into your google document (once for each role) and then add in your information. Remember to write everything in your own words and list where you found your information at the end.

What do they actually do all day?
They are responsible for booking live performances such as concerts, gigs, radio, tours and TV performances for artists, bands, DJ’s, choirs,
Orchestras and other musical ensembles.
Who would they work with directly and how?
They would work closely with the artist management, promoter and record company. The booking agent would develop and build a relationship with concert promoters so that they are able to book their clients into places that will best showcase their performance and talent.
What are their main areas of responsibility?
Main areas include:
• For coordinating performances and appearances for artists, performers, and public figures.
• Booking agents spend their time scouting talent, identifying potential gigs, and negotiating contracts for their clients
• They are responsible for developing the musicians' or artists' career with regard to their live performance.

What skills and characteristics do they need to do their job well and why?
They need good communication; organisation and customer service skills are essential for successful agents. You need to be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people from different backgrounds. Organisation is an important attribute in any job, but it's especially important to have as a booking agent .

ROLE: Promoter
What do they actually do all day?
The main job of a music promoter is to publicise and promote upcoming local or national live events and concerts. Promoters are in charge of “putting on” the show.
Who would they work with directly and how?
They work with the artists, and clubs or gig venues to arrange events.
Well tour promoters (concert promoters) are the individuals that are responsible for organizing a live concert tour or special event performance. The tour promoter makes an offer of employment to a particular artist, usually through the artist's agent or music manager.
What are their main areas of responsibility?
Keeping the demonstration area tidy and well stocked with products, samples, and/or literature. ... Answering any questions potential customers might have about a product or service. Recording transactions and stock levels. Processing customers' payments.
What skills and characteristics do they need to do their job well and why?
You will need excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be logical and creative. Promoters need to be good at problem solving, and be very enthusiastic and self-motivated.

ROLE: Tour Manager
What do they actually do all day?
A tour manager (or concert tour manager) is the person who helps to organize the administration for a schedule of appearances of a musical group (band) or artist at a sequence of venues (a concert tour). In general, road managers handle small to medium-sized tours, and tour managers are used on large-scale tours.
Who would they work with directly and how?
What are their main areas of responsibility?
Tour managers are responsible for making sure a concert tour runs smoothly.
These responsibilities can include
• Confirming Reservations
• Managing Tour Finances
• Getting everyone to where they need to be on time
• Dealing with promoters, venue managers and ticket agents
• Confirming Show Times.
What skills and characteristics do they need to do their job well and why?
Good standard of general education.
You would also need:
• Experience of working with people
• A friendly and approachable manner
• A keen interest in the culture, geography and history of the locations covered by the tour
• A good working knowledge of foreign languages if touring overseas
• Experience of working overseas if the job you are applying for is based abroad
