1990s

In the 1990s, we were still under a conservative government but that changed when Labour came into power in 1997. It was a decade that was subject to massive technological developments including mass use of the internet, music genres both emerging and reviving older styles and the class divide was still very much evident.

Research starter questions:

  • What was the gulf war about and what effect did it have?
  • How did rap music change in the Uk and USA?
  • How did BritPop reflect society?
  • What other genres were emerging and how were they similar to those of previous decades?
